DTN COMMENTS: A light trade is developing in parts of the South at midday,
at $137, fully steady with last weeks weighted averages. So far, the North
remains rather quiet. Some asking prices remain firm around $138 in the
South but are still not established in the North.

Beef cutouts are modestly lower at midday (choice 293.34 -0.16, select
284.65 -0.14) with moderate box movement (52.02 lds of choice cuts, 8.50 lds
of select cuts, 7.31 lds of trim, and 15.80 lds of ground). Beef cutouts
near the top of the noon hour are mixed mostly lower on live contracts, and
mostly sharply lower on feeder issues.
